RDA is a Member Body of the British Equestrian Federation (BEF)
What We Do
RDA National exists to support the Member Groups and Volunteers that make up the organisation. We do this in three specific ways:

1. Providing support and development for Groups and Volunteers
2. Providing support for Participants
3. Promoting specific activities with the organisation

The main activities in each of these areas is summarised below:


Support and development of Member Groups and volunteers

  • training structures and programmes
  • a rigorous quality assurance system across all Member groups
  • support and advice for Member Group Trustees on governance and legal issues
  • help and support with volunteering
  • the provision of help and support on issues such as Health & Safety and Child protection
  • the sharing of best practice through Regional and National conferences
  • support with PR and profile raising
  • we represent our Member Groups within National bodies, such as the British Equestrian Federation
  • the negotiation and provision of insurance for our Member Groups’ activities

 

Support for Participants

  • Advice and help with obtaining special equipment
  • A system of training progression from beginner, through a series of Proficiency tests
  • Access to our Education programme, which allows riders and drivers to gain an externally accredited qualification to validate their achievements
  • We run the RDA National Championships – the world’s biggest single competitive event in equestrianism for riders with disabilities
  • we represent the needs of our participants within National bodies, such as the British Equestrian Federation LTAD
  • The provision and support of a programme of holidays for our participants

 

Specific Activities

  • Defining standards and guidelines for activities, with the emphasis on the special needs of our participants
  • Promotion of new areas of activity – for example, side saddle riding and vaulting

 

Other Activities

In support of our activities above, RDA National also carries out the following additional activities:

  • Communications – both internally, to our own Groups and externally, to promote the work of the Association
  • Managing the data and IT for the Association
  • Developing external links with other, connected organisations
  • Fundraising
