For the first time in 2 years, RDA welcomes a new Group! Onley Grounds RDA officially opened in April this year, making them the first RDA Group to open since Lad’s Lodge RDA opened in 2021. The Group opened to meet the local demand for RDA’s services to disabled people. This is a monumental moment for our charity and our Groups following several difficult years due to the COVID pandemic.
The Group will be located at the prestigious Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre in Warwickshire. This venue hosts many equestrian functions, including the recent Dressage Para Home Nations and Midlands Carriage Driving Championships. It also hosts excellent facilities including several indoor and outdoor arenas, a polo club, classrooms, on-site equine vets, and much more! The Equestrian Centre also has excellent disabled facilities, such as a lift, and has plenty of purpose built-viewing areas, ideal for parents and carers to watch on from.
Having only just been established, the Group plans to start small with a single participant for now, who is returning to riding after selling her horse four years ago due to her disabilities. Onley Grounds RDA plans to introduce more riding lessons for children, young people and adults, for which they already have a growing waiting list.
This new venture is also accompanied by some exciting future plans. Once funds have been raised, the Group hope to not only offer more riding lessons, but also introduce carriage driving and vaulting! With a bright future ahead, we can’t wait to see more disabled children and adults benefitting from the services Onley Grounds RDA will provide.
