RDA feature in People’s Postcode Lottery campaign

RDA rider Maddie, and Aimee the pony, thank players of People’s Postcode Lottery Lottery in new campaign, alongside Ellie Goulding and Tom Allen.

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £1.4 billion to help support hundreds of good causes, including RDA. The impact of their support is highlighted in this inspiring new campaign, based on the timeless and iconic song ‘What the World Needs Now Is Love’, sending a message of hope for everyone ❤️

RDA is one of seven charities to feature, thanking players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their incredible support and showcasing the amazing difference they are making in our communities.

The campaign launched on Friday, October 11th,  featuring Brit award-winning superstar Ellie Goulding serenading a player with a stunning version of the classic 1960s Burt Bacharach and Hal David track, What The World Needs Now Is Love.

16-year-old Maddie, who features, started riding with RDA when she was just four years old.

Maddie’s Mum said: ‘Initially we just wanted to give Maddie the opportunity to explore new things, and like many children with Down’s Syndrome, to improve her core strength. Now RDA means so much more to her. Maddie rides independently, she is progressing, learning new skills, and achieving at her own pace. Opportunities to be independent are precious for disabled young people – so for Maddie, the special relationship with a horse is empowering, and RDA is absolutely her happy place.’

Aimee the pony had a rocky start in life, before being rescued by the RSPCA. Now she is an equine superstar, and a much-loved RDA pony, providing therapy, physical and mental health benefits, fun and achievement for disabled riders, like Maddie, every week.

“We are delighted to feature in this uplifting campaign and show the impact of RDA’s work with disabled people, enriching lives through horses. Our work is needed more than ever and, like thousands of charities across Britain, we simply couldn’t deliver our life-changing services without the long-term support and crucial funding raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Their funding underpins the support services that RDA UK can provide to RDA Groups across the country. We are incredibly grateful to the players who help make this possible, and for this unique opportunity to raise the profile of our incredible federation.”
