Job Title: Community & Events Fundraiser
Reports to: Head of Fundraising
Based at: RDA National Office (Lowlands Equestrian Centre, Old Warwick Road, Shrewley, CV35 7AX)
Salary range: £36,000 – £40,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week
Role Purpose
This role is responsible for working collaboratively with the Head of Fundraising to develop and deliver our annual portfolio of events (including RDA UK organised events, securing places in third party events and supporting in aid of events), introducing new local fundraising opportunities, and building relationships within community groups.
- To work collaboratively with the Head of Fundraising to deliver RDA UK’s community and events fundraising programme, ensuring income targets are achieved or exceeded.
- To explore, develop, and manage an RDA UK flagship event.
- To oversee and develop our challenge events programme, including open and bespoke overseas challenges.
- To build strong community partnerships and supporter networks, maximising engagement across the UK.
- To provide excellent supporter stewardship, ensuring every fundraiser feels valued and motivated.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Events and Challenge Fundraising
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate the RDA UK’s calendar of events ensuring high-quality participant experience and strong income return.
- Develop and manage challenge events, including open challenges (e.g. skydives, treks, marathons) and bespoke challenges.
- Research, propose, and launch new event opportunities that reflect supporter interests and market trends.
- Manage budgets for all events, ensuring accurate forecasting and the required level of ROI.
- Work with Marketing & Communications colleagues to deliver compelling event campaigns that maximise participation and sponsorship.
Community Fundraising
- Build, support, and steward relationships with community groups, schools, faith groups, businesses, and clubs to grow grassroots fundraising.
- Deliver inspiring talks and presentations across the community to raise awareness and income.
- Provide excellent supporter care for all community fundraisers and volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and supported.
- Income Generation & Monitoring
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial and supporter information using RDA UK’s CRM
- Provide reports, updates, and insights for senior staff, colleagues, and Trustees as required.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Recruit volunteers, working alongside them and providing support,to ensure they feel valued and engaged.
- Collaborate with colleagues across RDA UK to maximise opportunities.
Other
- Ensure all events and activities comply with codes of fundraising practice, charity law and RDA UK policies and procedures, minimising risk and establishing Health and Safety controls.
- Deliver talks and presentations in the community and online to local organisations in order to increase awareness of and support for RDA UK activities
- To keep abreast of developments within the external fundraising environment
- To undertake such other duties as the line manager shall from time to time determine
- To be flexible in working from other locations in the UK as required for the effective delivery of the role
- To ensure due consideration is always given to our charitable aims and objectives and that this is demonstrated in all activities
- Ensure compliance with General Data Protection Regulations (2018) across all relationships including data collection
- Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends when required
Person Specification
Experience – Essential
- Proven track record of delivering inspiring fundraising events (in person and virtual) within a fixed expenditure budget to secure agreed income targets
- Proven track record of positive community engagement to secure in aid of fundraising
- Developing relationships with event participants and community supporters, successfully delivering creative stewardship and securing repeated support.
- Operational delivery, planning, budgeting and reporting.
- Knowledge of fundraising trends, techniques, and best practice in Community and Event fundraising and UK fundraising landscape.
Experience – Desirable
- Use of a donor database such as Salesforce/Beacon/Raisers edge.
- Knowledge, or experience, of the disability or voluntary sector especially membership bodies/federated charities
- Passionate about the positive community impact RDA makes
