RDA Receives Grant from Pets Foundation to Improve Equine Welfare and Access at Lowlands Equestrian Centre
A huge thank you to the Pets Foundation for their generous grant, which has helped us enhance equine welfare and improve accessibility at RDA UK’s Lowlands Equestrian Centre in Warwickshire.
This funding has supported a series of vital upgrades across the site, including improvements to drainage, fencing and the addition of new field shelters. Together, these changes are creating a safer, more accessible space for our horses, participants, and volunteers.
Lowlands is a vibrant hub in the local community, home to three RDA groups and used by both disabled and non-disabled riders. It also houses RDA UK’s national training centre and head office, welcoming volunteers and coaches from across the UK for events and training.
Thanks to the Pets Foundation, we’re able to:
- Reclaim and restore grazing fields, offering more safe and secure turnout space for our horses
- Install new field shelters to provide essential shade and weather protection
- Improve access across the site with upgraded tracks
- Create additional capacity, allowing us to expand our herd and reduce participant waiting lists
RDA CEO Michael Bishop expressed heartfelt thanks:
“We are very grateful to Pets Foundation for their generous support, which will make a significant impact at RDA UK’s Lowlands Equestrian Centre, a vital hub where we welcome participants from three RDA groups and the local community, and run training events that support RDA volunteers and coaches from across the UK. Our horses are key to enriching the lives of disabled people, and their welfare and wellbeing are paramount to all of us at RDA.”
We’re delighted to celebrate these improvements and grateful to the Pets Foundation for helping us create a more accessible, inclusive, and inspiring space at Lowlands.
